We’re looking for a keen and motivated Apprentice Stonemason to join our established stonemasonry team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn a skilled traditional trade while working alongside experienced stonemasons on a variety of projects.

This four year work based apprenticeship comprises a combination of

• on the job learning at various sites in Skye and Lochalsh and the wider West Highlands
• regular attendance at Elgin training centre on a block release basis. Accommodation and travel expenses will be provided.

The role includes:

• Learning traditional and modern stonemasonry techniques
• Assisting experienced stonemasons on site
• Cutting, shaping and laying stone
• Preparing materials and mixing mortar
• Using hand and power tools
• Keeping the work area clean and safe
• Block release training and attendance at Elgin Training Centre

No previous stonemasonry experience necessary — just the right attitude and willingness to learn.

We are looking for an experienced Labourer to join our established stonemasonry team. The successful candidate will work alongside skilled stonemasons on a variety of projects, helping to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting stonemasons with day-to-day site activities
• Loading, unloading and moving stone, materials and equipment
• Preparing materials and work areas for masonry work
• Mixing mortar and other materials as required
• Using hand and power tools safely and appropriately
• Assisting with cutting, lifting and positioning stone
• Keeping the work area clean, tidy and organised
• Loading and securing materials for transport
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Carrying out general labouring duties as required

Requirements

• Previous experience in construction, stonemasonry or a similar trade would be beneficial
• Physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting and outdoor work
• Good practical skills and a willingness to learn
• Reliable, hardworking and punctual
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Good awareness of health and safety
• Full UK driving licence would be an advantage
• CSCS card or relevant site experience would be beneficial
